its "special" paint. it makes your car transform.
there are hundreds of different paints out there that cost extraneous amounts of money. the sunset yellow is one of those. GM is building and painting the car, so GM still has these costs to worry about. they have to buy the paint (or the ingredients to mix it), set up a separate line/booth just for that color, then paint the car. and the fact that its multilayered doesnt help pricing either way.
