Why an additional fuel pump.... At the power we were running, we were on the edge of the capacity of the big weldon external pump we are using... When we blew off the vacumn hose at the mile, the car spiked thirty lbs of boost and went lean on one bank. The injectors were not max'ed out, but the pump was.... so the lean condition....
To ensure that doesnt happen again, we are adding another big weldon external pump for safety... It will only come on at say 10-20 lbs of boost... and run wide open to back up the primary pump.... This will prevent any possibility of a lean condition due to losing boost reference...
We will also be running all boost reference back to the intake manifold rather than the various t fittings and things there have been....
I would not have lifted the head if the motor hadn't gone lean on the one bank...
