Another Possibility?
Here is another twist on the Shunt conspiracy that we may not have thought of... Top Gear has "The Stig"... maybe this is Team Camaro's "Tame racing car driver"? They get out to the 'Ring, open the trunk, let Shunt do his magic, then when done put him back in the trunk. Since Shunt, like the Stig, does not say anything, they need a reminder to feed him and give him some water once in a while?
