From what I have seen so far, it appears the new Mustang is only on a 265 tire, which may not be enough to eclipse the 1LE. The weight most likely will only be about 100 punds on a GT model, but Ford has done most of the lightening on the front of the car which should help balance. That combined with slightly wider rear track makes for interesting bench racing in the interim!
I don't doubt that the track version, and God knows what it will be called, will eclipse the Boss and the 1LE, and perhaps even the ZL1. Ford fans can only dream as of now if it will match the impressive numbers put down by the Z/28, but I'm sure they will try.
I wouldn't expect 'Ring times for the car, as it appears Ford isn't biting on that hook, but never the less, head to head comparisons by the magazines will certainly keep us all looking for any advantage over the other guy!
