The manual say to change when the light comes on but at least once a year, the dealership says the same thing but people on this forum have said to change it at 500, 1500 or 3000 miles for the original oil change and vary on opinion of when to change the oil regularly.

The dealer said there is no more break in oil. So what do you all think. Thanks
I read about someone who changed it after 250 miles.

Maint. tech at the dealer said 3000 miles for the first, then whenever the computer tells you it's time.

Salesman didn't have a clue.

The manual mentions a 1500 mile "break in period" - but doesn't mention changing the oil right after you hit the 1500 mile mark.

Metal shavings? - If you're worried about little pieces of metal in your engine, then I'd recommend changing the oil... driving it for a day... then change it again so you get everything flushed out - if you're really worried about metal shavings. Other than that, I don't want to hear any about changing your oil for the purpose of draining out loose metal shavings.

I broke in a GM 350 engine in 1000-1500 miles... forget what it was.
