Interesting thread and there seems to be a ton of dissatisfaction on the price.

It is obvious why GM built the Z/28. It was built to bring back the Z/28 as the most collectable and fastest track edition 5th Gen Camaro. It was not designed for a racing series so it is not a true race car. It is not based on the historical Z/28 or Z28 of old. (If it was based on the 60s Z/28 I would expect 5 Liter high winding motor not a 7 Liter engine and a volume/ price that most could afford.) As for the 4 and 3 gen Z28 that spot was filled by the SS.

So what did they build? Again not a pure race car, or an insane street car but a limited edition collectable unique version of the 5th Gen Camaro. It reminds me of the Buick GNX vs GN or the Firebird TTA vs GTA. Very cool very expensive versions of great cars. With the GNX Vs GN it took very little to make a GN faster than a stock GNX. Today the GNX is far more collectable. This car is for that purpose. I do not expect to see many if any 2014 Z/28 driven on the road (or track for that matter.) They will be bought by collectors that will put them in garages.
