That is pricey for an attorney for a first DWI down here. And they do things a little different here. I can't quote you, but it doesn't take all that long. I think you can be cleared up well with in 6 months, but you can't drive in that time period.
$12,000 over all for one is higher than here for sure. It's a couple thousand for the court cost and TASK, the classes and pee tests you go through, and then maybe a couple thousand more for an attorney.
Don't know about that guy, but at least in Shelby County, AL where I used to live, they would always defer your first so it didn't go on your record until you got your second, and then you got two on your record at once, in theory. I had a buddy get a second deferred, not sure how, and that really encouraged him because he got his third this past December. Waiting to see what happens on that. He just started a new job. I'm thinking he'll have to do a little time and probably lose his new job. I don't know.
