I think it is for marketing reasons. There are more SS owners that can relate the comparison to Z/28. Also makes it justifiable to be so exspensive seeing it perform so mun more vs SS.

Agree, more people are familiar with the SS, as they are more common, so are able to use it as a benchmark.
