A small flat head screw driver should get in there. If your wife is good with a small/thin brush, she shouldn't have a problem painting it. Another alternative is plastidip but you'd probably have to do the whole emblem. The good thing is that you can do it on the car. Just tape off a small square around the emblem, then spray as many layers as you want. The excess will peel off pretty easily and a tooth pick will get the tight areas.
