The way i see it, and has been mentioned, there's no way to make him 100% whole, as in where he was 12/14/2013. It's not POSSIBLE to get an untitled 2012, at least not for $44k (one on trader is like $6x,xxx) to get him back to first-owner status of a first-year 2012 ZL1.
However, the incident occurred 12/15, they were notified on 12/16, and posting here was on 12/20.
I find it rather hard to believe that giving the dealer 5 days to solve the problem is adequate time. They notified the owners at 9:00am 12/16, and were posting on here at 2:09pm on 12/20. That is a total of 101 hours and 9 minutes.
When i had my issues, again it was a lease not a buy, but I was still out a car, money, making payments, etc... I gave them more than 100 hours before posting it online (gm-volt.com).
Too late, can't put the genie back, but I think BOTH parties should have done things differently. Obviously, that loudmouth should not have said the ZL1 owners were "about as bad as the guy who stole the car." (Jesus - are you KIDDING ME?). I also think the OP should've given them a bit more time. It's a big deal, big item, lotsa $$, and involves legal aspects (ie, tax, licensing, etc...).
That being said, if the guy really DID say they were worse than the thief, in my eyes, all bets are off. That's just downright disgusting, nasty CS, and really unprofessional.
