His car was worth WAY more to him than it would be to anyone else. (as are ALL of our cars I suppose) The difference is that I realize that. And I would hope and ask for what I think it's worth but would take a minimum of a comparable car. I'd expect that they'd give me some extra in some way but that would be up to them.
I have a few well documented deals on here that went south. I've been told by a good number of members that I have WAY more patience than they would. And ultimately I only called out one company. Savini wheels. I documented well and everyone knows that they hosed me and a few other members. I only say that to show that I am not trying to hold the OP to some kind of outrageous standard. I dont' see where he gave the dealer much time before the internet mob was called out.
Things may have happened the way they have been presented but I'd be surprised. This dealer has been trashed and we have a few people in this thread that have refuted some of what the OP has said. Does not make Hooper wrong. But nobody here knows him personally not the dealer and it's interesting to see the piling on and flocking to one side of a story.

I said what I said about the new car, because I personally spoke with Mr Hansen this morning. I called as a neutral 3rd party about 10:55am, just to make sure they were aware of the sheer enormity of the shitstorm that had started nationwide. The receptionist said she'd transfer me to one of the managers, and lo and behold it's Bob Hansen who takes the call.
I was cordial, and polite, and just made him aware of the 1% who are troublemakers, and he said that they have been bombarded with people calling and dropping F-Bombs on the ladies working there. Really? Was that REALLY necessary? Wow... Not saying it was anyone here. Could be anyone, from anywhere, but hopefully they read this, and freaking grow up a little bit. That's not going to help, and you terrorized a 63-year old woman for crying out loud...
He said some things he asked me NOT to repeat, so I will respect his request, and will let him or whoever say it when they do come on here, but some of you may not be happy to hear it (not unhappy with the dealer, if you catch my drift)
He did say that the Hoopers were dead set on a new car as a replacement, even before they had ever been given a chance to find a replacement 2012 ZL1 of like miles, condition, and history.
As I have said, and others also, there's two sides to every story. I was not there, neither was anyone else on here. Only the dealer staff involved and the Hoopers know what really happened. I can tell you, Mr Hansen was not mad. he was disappointed that the entire world had judged them, and treating them unfairly, only having heard one side of the story.
However, if what the articles say is true, where the GM was berating them likening them to the thief, that just plain sucks. That'd be one guy I'd immediately give walking papers to, without delay.
I know what it's like to be in a similar position, and in a loaner/rental for weeks at a time, in a POS that's worth half or less of what you're making payments on. And TWICE in 6mos, no less...
I can assure you this. As Scott said, GM is involved, which was confirmed by Mr. Hansen in saying that Chevrolet/GM were assisting in finding a car, it will get done. Like I said, GM has that back-channel that works situations such as this, and it works rather well. it worked for me twice, and sometimes requires patience, as there are laws and regulation in place governing Manufacturers, dealers, and customer interactions of both. Involving GM is NOT as simple as you might think it is...
On the ass-end of this, I can't really FAULT the OP for coming here. I really can't. That's a real doozy of a predicament to be in, and I don't have the heart to scold him for not waiting more than 5 days. What's done is done, hopefully GM/Chevrolet/First State will take care of the Hoopers, they'll be happy, we'll be happy they're happy, and we'll continue talking crap about cars.
Who wants the Soap Box?
