Z/28 R (REAL ONE)
You see, the factory production one is for track days. In order to qualify in sanctioned events, here is what they say:
“Apart from series-mandated equipment and the specialized suspension components needed for endurance racing, the Z/28.R is as close to a production-spec race car as you’ll find,” said Kent.
Well, my friends, what you have is a modded Z/28 outfitted to meet qualifications, which the factory version does not. No big deal. They have to refine the production version to gain entry. You can still buy the standard street version, but you won't be seeing the Z/28R on the street. What specifically is the track mandated equipment? Cost? Why not on the production version so GM could say they produced it to qualify just like in 1967?
This particular Z/28R won't be available for individuals to buy, so it's just a race team car. Filling in where the factory left off. But it sure is good to see the LS7 kicking some butt! Will be fun to watch. Just not sure how it translates to Joe Plumber.
