I can understand HOPING that other Camaro owners would report that "it happens all the time, it's normal." However... it isn't.

One of the best investments I ever made was in an ODB unit... haven't had to plug it into my Camaro yet, but have used it many times on my older vehicles, and eleventy jillion times for friends and neighbors who get an error light. Sometimes--- often, even--- it's a very minor issue that can be "cleared" with the OBD unit (when it's plugged in, it gives the operator an option of "clearing" it or leaving it), and it can indicate EXACTLY what the problem is. The thing is easy to use, even for a technotard, such as myself, with modern units indicating the error code AND a brief description (like, "misfire, cylinder 3," or "loose gas cap").

I got mine a couple of years ago, cost me $130.

Some auto parts stores may still offer the free service of plugging in their OBD unit. AutoZone in California USED TO do it, until some automotive repair group lobbied against it, claiming that it was cutting into their business, with all the damn consumers fixing their own cars themselves, instead of paying a mechanic ten times the price to have a grease monkey do it. So, now it's illegal in CA for an auto parts store to provide the service, but other states may not be as communistic. Just go in, ask if they have an "OBD" (On-Board Diagnostic) unit that they can diagnose your "check engine light" with.
