as for the previous stripe-removal, either try 3m adhesive remover (comes in a spray can, specifically meant for dissolving adhesives without damaging paint) or goo gone. i've heard 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water mix will help, but may damage your clear coat. whatever you do, make sure you wax your car afterwards
