Havent researched a ton on filters, but I did read enough people saying that Mobil 1 filters are good. I bought the highest grade filter they offer.
As for oil, I did do a lot of research, and looked at actual tests between a lot of the performance oils, and they included Mobil 1. Mobil 1 didnt do so great, at all.
I use Amsoil now. Did great in all the tests, lots of pro shops recommend it, they have multiple formulas depending on what you do with the car. It is expensive at first, but is guaranteed for 13k or 15k miles, something obnoxious like that, so you get more life out of it.
This is just one set of tests, done to a few diff oils, but it gives you an idea.
