I honestly believe the airlines use weather as a way to cut costs. If they can consolidate flights and blame the weather, it costs them less to operate.
It was also obvious watching the procedure that no one there knew what they were doing. It was out of the ordinary for them.
I don't fly with ice on my wings, but this particular situation was mishandled.
