What i believe happened if that's what the driver claimed ,is that he was playing around lost control and blamed the system,is more like it..
Yes, the correct name, whether hydraulic, electric, or whatever is power assist steering. Per federal safety mandates, there will be manual steering in case of an assist failure. Whether or not you need forearms like Popeye to steer it is another issue.
