For me, the small price of a tender lets me sleep better knowing it'll start after sitting for a few months.

Will it start without a tender? Probably, but there would always be that little nagging voice in my head that says, maybe not.

With all the electronics on cars these days, I'd always wonder if there is any kind of very small constant 'keep alive' drain for any part of the electronics that over a period of a few months would be enough to drop the voltage just enough to prevent the battery from having enough capacity left to crank it over fast enough to start the engine.

You'll never know for sure until it's time to start the car, and if it doesn't start, you'll be kicking yourself for not having the small battery tender.
