1. The GT500 is a monster of a car.
2. The SS is a great car.
3. Half a second in a drag race is a big margin.
4. Ford vs Chevy.
5. Cars are priced different all over the country.
If you are a Ford guy you will do everthing to show the good points of your vehicle. You will also do everything to point out the bad in the competiton. The same rules apply to the Chevy guys. It is simply a matter of personal taste.
I am doing research on what new toy to buy as I recently sold my 70 GTO. I am leaning pretty heavy towards the Camaro, because my old man has a 69 ss396 and I was raised on chevy. (The new camaro would be the same color so we would have a matching set)
The GT500 is awesome, but in Minnesota 50g's is a large kick in the head for a 7 to 8 month car. I would consider a new GT and then do some mods to it. (Like that s/c edelbrock has out now)
My point is that the new GT500 is simply in a different class than the SS, in both performance and also in price. Any comparison between these two is simply meant to piss people off and stir the pot, no matter what camp your tent is pitched in.
