I have a 2014 Camaro 1le 2SS/RS in Bright Yellow. Bought the car in Jan 2014 and due to the bad weather only had an opportunity to drive it twice. I only have 241 miles on it. Before driving it I ensured any road salt had been cleared by recent rainfall and that pot holes had been fixed.
In those two trips I discovered 3 paint chips on the front fascia and 4 chips on the gills but only on the passenger side. How absolutely frustrating this is. These are not pin hole chips, they are 2-3mm and with the bumper being primed in dark grey, the chips are very noticeable with the bright yellow paint.
As many of you have mentioned, I have never owned a car in all my life (owned 14 cars of which 7 were brand new) that has chipped so easily. Spending almost 50K on a car that I'm reluctant to drive due to the crap paint job is really having me reconsider my purchase. I am considering have a clear bra installed on the front. I hope that helps.
I know GM is going through some major recall problems at the moment but they need to be addressing their current customers that are having some non-safety issues. We are not the standard Chevy customer, we are among the most passionate Chevy customers that are buying one of their top of the line vehicles. We are a group that belong to clubs, take to online forums and could be one of GM's biggest PR assets. By not even reaching out to us, or admitting a problem exists is disturbing and they risk losing a powerful voice in promoting an otherwise stellar vehicle.
