This story takes place in Raleigh, NC. Things started a couple of weeks ago when I saw the 2014 1LE and decided I had to have it, Ashen Grey 2SS RS 1LE NPP. Went on True Car and immediately got calls from 3 local dealers.
I ended up meeting with a salesman at Sir Walter Chevrolet on Thursday, April 25. They did a search and showed me three cars that met my criteria in the southeast. I choose the one with just my options and nothing more. Came back in on Saturday, April 26, got the financing squared away and agreed on price. Monday, April 28 was expecting a call asking me to put down a deposit to ship the car but never heard from the dealership. After work I stopped by and found the car we had made a deal on had been dealer traded off the other lot that weekend. I asked if they were looking into getting one of the other cars and was told that they hadn't done anything. By the time I left they had sent an email to the dealership for the second car. Forty Eight hours later I still hadn't heard back from Sir Walter and decided to start shopping the other two local dealers.
On the evening of Wednesday, April 30, I called Sir Walter and found out they could not make a trade with the other lot and had been stalling hoping I would settle for a 2SS off their lot. I was able to find out the name of the other lot who actually had the Grey 1LE, Priority Chevrolet in Chesapeake, VA. Called Priority Wednesday evening and started the process all over again.
Thursday, May 1, I’m filling out an online app with Priority. Friday, May 2, The other two local lots call me back and tell me they found the car, turns out it’s the car in Virginia. Friday afternoon Priority and I agree on a price over the phone. Saturday morning, May 2, I head up to Chesapeake.
When I get there the car is exactly as expected except the front chin has obviously been slammed into a curb. I meet with the owner/lot manager and he agrees they need to fix it but I want to take the car back to NC today. He agrees, in writing, to let me take it to a local body shop in Raleigh, NC. We shake hands I write a check and now my driveway looks like this.
The last Ashen Grey 1LE within 500 miles of Raleigh, NC.
