Starting with a V6 and "working your way up to the V8 as they get cheaper" is by far the most expensive way to buy one.

It sounds like you really like your existing car. If the finances are such that you're looking at compromising what you really want just to add a 5th gen as a second car, then my suggestion is to hold off until the cost is not a concern.
