Anyway, I think that there will be too much compare shopping between the two and may eat at eachothers sales and possibly still cause someone to go to Toyota or Nissan due to the amenities for the price they can get or don't want

Maybe I'm younger than you or just simply view things differently. But this is the year 2014! Every vehicle needs to have this "technical garbage" as you call it as an option! Otherwise you're wasting time an money even bringing it to the market. I personally would not spend 5 grand on a vehicle that was perfect for my "needs" and didn't have this "technical garbage" on the side. My money is worth more to me than having some stripped down truck sitting in my driveway thats no better than buying a used 1995 s-10.
God help me if they make a Canyon Denali.
