Don't tell them how far you're driving or let them know how interested you are; the more you want it the less they will budge. They also make money if you have them get you financed so you can use that to negotiate a lower price. Another trick when you're in finance is tell them you will buy the extended warranty, service, etc. if they can get you a lower rate (i.e. lower their finance profit) then cancel the warranty within 30 days.
Shop around for dealers in the area that are advertising discounted cars and take those ads to the dealership.
Also, don't be afraid to walk away if they don't give you a reasonable deal.
I got $5,000 off the 2014 that I bought in February at 2.9% interest and $300 in gas cards.
