I noticed the idle thing on my SS on the way home from the dealership last night. It idling right in the 450-475 rpm range, but does flutter a bit giving it a slight rough idle. Car is new - only 28 miles and no mods. I did notice the A/C kicked it up to about 550 rpm when it was on though.
No biggie I guess since my last car was cammed. But I think the low idle is responsible for me stumbling a bit on take offs. Almost killed it driving it off the lot, and I have been driving stickshifts for over 30 years along with 90% of all my miles driven in that time were stickshifts.
But I started figure out that it likely the 450 rpms. Any slight drop while letting the clutch out causes it to stumble or lug a little.
After a day I'm getting use to it and compensate by just reving it a little more than I would in other cars at take-off. Does pretty well like that.
I'll like do a few mods come August, getting at the same time. I will get them to idle it up about 100rpms then. Should help.
