Lets be honest - iron cutting wheel cleaners are not cheap! The ingredients in them are expensive, so using them for every wash is just flushing money down the drain.
I keep a couple of spare bottles of pre-mixed car wash solutions for my general cleaning needs and reserve Active Wheel Cleaner Plus for times when I encounter seriously dirty wheels or need to do a good heavy cleaning to remove embedded iron.
My general go to is a highly diluted mixture of Balanced Wash that I use for spray during washing.
If the wheels are a little more than just lightly dirty I've been using a similar mixture, but with Surface Prep Wash instead to give it a little more 'bite'.
The golden rule of detailing - always use the least aggressive method to get the job done. Its fun to watch wheel cleaners turn color, but aside from entertainment value they're not needed with light to moderate cleaning. |
Wouldn't your surface prep wash solution strip your protection?
Or are you saying you have a dilution that is stronger than balanced wash while still staying LSP safe?
