Is it a certified used car from a GM dealer? If so, it will add 2 years and 24,000 miles of additional warranty coverage as part of the certified plan. If not, you still can get an extended warranty from any GM dealer any time up to to 35,999 on the odometer, as long as it has not gone beyond the factory 3 years or 36,000 mileage bumper to bumper warranty and as long as it has not been modified.

If you purchase a used GM vehicle from a GM dealer and the bumper to bumper has expired, I believe it's still true that you have the option to purchase the GM extended warranty at the time of purchase only. I did this years ago on a car I purchased for my daughter.

Make sure that if you have any outstanding issues on any used car your looking to buy, make sure you get in writing what needs to be resolved before you sign the contract.

Good luck!
