Great story! It reminds me of a couple of my Grandma (MeMe) stories. Back in '78, a year out of high school, I bought a new Suzuki GS1000. I stopped by to show it to her, and after looking it over for a bit, she said "So, do I get a ride on it?" That floored me, how could I say no? So we gently putted around the neighborhood a little bit (though I did goose it a tiny bit). I'm not sure if she or I had the bigger grin, and both she and the neighbors talked about it for years. She was 69 at the time, and lived to be 86.
Roll back to 1969: my uncle had a 1969 Indy pace car replica, the white & orange convertible. Grandma's (his mom) car was in the shop, so he'd loaned her the Camaro, and was riding around in his buddy's Mustang. As they pulled up to a stop at a light that had just turned red, he saw her on the cross street. When her light turned green, she smoked the tires all the way across the intersection!
I don't know if he ever told her or not, and I've always wondered if the burnout was accidental or intentional. By the way, she was a schoolteacher and librarian.
