As you said, gears do make a good difference in cam selection and transmission type. A L99 car wont be anything like a LS3 cam with 3:91 gearing.

That beeing said, this question could have been asked in another section for different answer.

I just hope OP wont stop at this thread or this site for cam selection. Go read on ls1tech and corvette forums too. Then call a sponsor who knows his stuff.
