But the main point I was conveying is highlighted above. It is such a big responsibility driving a car and most people just choose to ignore that.
And I am not saying we should adopt an Autobahn concept here because it would be a death trap in the US. I am merely saying speed is NOT the #1 reason for fatalities on the roads like it is made out to be....it's everything else and the statistics for the Autobahn support this.
But it would be nice if, say on minimum 6 lane highways, there was a true fast lane.

in some states, it's against the law to be in the left "fast" lane, if you are not passing. of course, this is really hard to enforce, with so many people on the road vs cops.
