Let me shorten a loooong story (and your photo has helped me.)
My hood was repainted and up to this moment I thought the paint shop (or somebody) left the left side underhood panel off my car. If you lift the hood, from the front of the car there is a panel to the right of the rain guard, but there is no panel on the left side of the rain guard. I didn't want to pull my rain guard or touch anything until this missing left side panel got sorted out. But from your photo I can now see
there is no decorative panel on the left side. And today I found out indirectly from a Ford guy the panel on the right side has something to do with making a seal for the air intake box, and is not for decorative purposes. So the bottom line is, now I can pull my rain guard.
