You sure you have the drain valve closed? It's a common and easy-to-make mistake with the drain valve design on the RX cans to think you're closing it when you're actually opening it.

If it's open, the intake vacuum will pull air in through the drain valve instead of through the crankcase, and you'll get no collection in the can (not to mention any collection would immediately drain out the open valve, if you did).
