Are transmission coolers reccomended?
Running a 6 speed auto, and have the 4 pack guages installed. From previous cars at the track ive always tried to keep transmission fluid temps at 175 during autoX evwnts granted it would rise to 195-200 briefly. I know the rule of thumb is for every 20 degrees over 175 it halfs the fluid and also allows thw formation of varnish etc on the clutches.
So from a few track practice events and traffic/spirited driving i'm now seeing temps past the midway mark and reaching towards 3/4 mark. Given the marks im estimating temps are nearing 220-235 ish? Am I right on that?
So has anyone added a cooler so far? Any reccomendations on perfect size fitments?
