The V8 is being regulated out of existence. Are you aware that CAFE regs rise to fleet averages of 35.5mpg by 2016 and 54.5 by 2025? These standards were not legislated by your elected representatives but rather imposed by bureaucratic fiat.
As Al Oppenheimer said in public comments at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May, we have the technology to meet the 2016 standards. If the 2025 standards remain in place, your choices will be dramatically changed. If you like high performance V8s in your Camaros, vote in politicians who will allow their continued existence.
