I had a similar problem and found that the rubber boot on the steering shaft had split and the steering knuckle was rubbing my header with turning. It only rubs when you turn which allows the engine to twist just enough to rub throught the boot. The problem isnt noticeable till that boot is split and the knuckle hits.
