They are not only mundane designs, but they really haven't done anything interesting in forever. A good example of this is a Toyota Corrolla. It had a horsepower bump in 2002 from 125 hp to 130 hp and then it stayed at 130 hp for a least a decade. Now it got another horsepower bump of 2 hp to 132 hp.
Wait. Looks like for 2015 they really upped their game and now they have a 140 hp engine along with the 132 hp one.
