not really, the 3V in the S197 was a hell of a lot better than the 2V that was in prior Mustangs. Was the 3V the motor everyone hoped for? no not at all, but like you said they had no direct competition forcing them to offer something better. Camaro gets greenlit, Ford beigns working on the 5.0 and sucked for them that it wasn't ready in time for the 2010 model with the new body style. Competition is what makes the best products for the consumer
