No thanks… the afterburner ring isn't really a ring anymore. "Low profile" = nearly non existent. As a consequence, the LED array loses a lot of its shape and looks kinda random.
I have a feeling that this wasn't a design change for style purposes but to address load issues with the circuit previously. One change in that 6800 series is that all LEDs (center array + afterburner) use the car's stock lighting harness for power. Before, only the afterburner ring was powered by the lighting harnesses and the center LED array was powered by a separate lead connected to your car's positive battery post. Maybe the new design doesn't support as many LEDs as before for whatever reason, but at the benefit of avoiding the parasitic battery drain that the 6700 was plagued from? Who knows.
Should be interesting to see how we're going to get replacement bulbs now, since the new 6800 series not only looks different but is 100% incompatible. Wonder how that works exactly for people who still have a warranty. All I can say is all my emails for the last 3 months asking to have my passenger side right bulb swapped have been ignored. I'm going to call them soon.
