To whomever is having TPMS and key-fob range problems, a tech. at Scosche emailed me a firmware update that fixed my issues. the system has been working perfectly since then. I am FINALLY done figuring out what's the cause.
The tech. originally emailed me 3-files but the update wouldn't take (got error message), then he sent me 3 new files (with one of the files empty; 0Bytes) and said to try them. I did and to my surprise the update worked (I actually saw the 0-100% counter), and since then no more issues.
NOTES worth mentioning:
before the successful update, I noticed below triggers for the TPMS light.
1. when I plugged in my generic AT&T mobile phone charger to charge my cell, TPMS light will come on shortly after, so I used another brand charger, and TPMS light will not come one.
So I am not sure if I have a defective charger or what. I just thought it's worth investigating if someone else out there uses same chargers.
2. If I activate the Traction Control (Competitive Mode) I have SS Automatic, the TPMS light will come on short after. ( Maybe it's related to bad ground connection, which I talk about below in point 4.)
3. If I don't have neither cell phone charging or Competitive Mode on, the TPMS light is at bay.
4. Make sure you ground your Scosche and head unit to an actual frame ground spot. there are two metal posts on each side of where the system sits, which you can clearly see ground wires already connected there, so just piggy back off of the same connection. Bad ground connection can create issues.
P.S. I hope this is helpful. If you guys want the firmware files I used for the update, please let me know what's the best way to upload them. or you can go direct to Scosche and ask for them.
Regards,
Mike
