I removed my emblem because I applied a flat black decal between the tail lights. I re-used my emblem after covering the gold w/ flat black vinyl. BTW, it turn out great and cost about $15.00 .
The trunk bowtie is very difficult since the entire surface of the emblem is covered w/ the sticky adhesive . I used a small utility knife ( w/ the breakaway blade) and cut the adhesive between the emblem and the paint. Next I began wedging the emblem using a plastic blade (ones used for window tint/ or body work). Using the wedge, I was able to cut more of the adhesive further behind the emblem while slowly lifting it off. I did scrap the paint in a few spots, but only behind where the emblem goes anyways. There are 2 holes in the trunk lid, so you cant just delete the bowtie.
I cleaned the residue of w/ goo gone without any effect to the paint finish. I did clean it w/ soap as soon as I was done. Emblem removal took about 15-20 minutes w/ me being very careful and another 15 cleaning the adhesive off.
Good luck, my .02
