Good Snow tires. That is all you need, the engineering and technology used to make current snow tires is amazing compared to the "old days". The stock summer tires don't function below 40 degrees F. The stock all-season tires will do OK in lighter snow, but good snow tires are needed for the heavy stuff.

Three years of DD in NY in all weather on the NYS Thruway every day (86k miles on it now).
