Even if the Camaro only gets the LT1 & LT4 you can give the Z/28 the LT1 but with a much more aggressive track set up (brakes, suspension, tire, etc) unless team Camaro is afraid of the the Z/28 being "downgraded" to 1LE status. Heck they don't need to offer a Z/28 again until they feel like they can really do something special. I rather they do that then dilute the name/image, kind of what they did with the Z/28s on the 4th gens..
