Weld them both, you will never have to worry about the clampscoming loose thisway. Along with the X pipe is 2.5 ooutlets at both ends, you exhaust is 2.5 at the front half but 2.25 at the back half. So welding is a better choice. The MRT's tend to loosen up when clamped. I have both of them welded on my set-up. Weld em and forget em. Other than the sweet sound will remind you they are there.
