It doesn't matter, if you take the check. Go to the shop of your choice. That shop will fix the car, and if the amount of parts and labor are more than the check, they will tell the insurance company and they will pay for it. Getting an estimate from the insurance company is just a ball park. There is no way for some guy that works for an insurance company to know exactly what it will cost to fix just from looking at it, the real cost comes from when the shop pulls it apart....and the insurance company is on the hook for that, not you. Also, they cant tell you where to fix your car, period.
