I've been waiting on some dyno results, too. I like the look of the Z28 intake, but probably not enough to pay $400 if it offers no performance gains.
Hood should be closed so it keeps the intake from sucking in cool air from the top -- and will give you a more "real life" measurement because it must suck air from the bottom inlet just like when you are driving and just like the stock intake.
