A lot of sporty vehicles over the years have had poor visibility, stylist want beautiful cars while engineers want usable cars.
Lamborghini Countach has super poor visability....
Early third generation Corvette had poor visibility....
It really just seems to be in more modern times when people complained about this as much as some do. Sporty cars are a balance of beauty, performance, and usability with emphasis on performance and beauty on cars like the Mustang, Camaro, and Corvette (and a whole lot more).
When you go to buy an economy car (often called econobox) things like fuel economy and usability come front and center. When I purchased an economy car I ended up getting a Sonic hatch, they are small fit in a small place and yet have tons of room inside.
If I am buying a car like a Camaro or a Corvette I am buying something with different attributes then an economy car. Style and performance is the big appeal here, even if that means that usability and economy gets sacrificed. Sure it is great if I can buy a car like this without sacrificing economy for example but it isn't a make or break proposition....
