I had the pleasure of going on a track today. I had a gig last night and woke up around 11, first thing I do is check my phone, the only message I had was from a friend who works in a showroom for exotic cars next to the track here in Beijing. He said that there is an open track day and asked if I wanted to go. Of course I said yes! So this is my first track day experience in China. It was a lot different from what I experienced in the states. Because my friend works near by he got me in for free. It would have been around $120 for the day otherwise. We just cruised in through the gates, and right up to the starting line. They only asked me what size engine I have and game my car a sticker. Never checked anything at all- literally, I just drove in the gates, got a sticker and went to the starting line. It was a well organized event, the pacing was pretty good it felt I had the track to myself when I was on it. The lap was just over 1 min long and I improved my over 5 seconds in my 7 runs. Most of the cars there were european cars- BMWs, Audis, Ferraris, Porsches and a few Mercedes. there were seem Toyota 86s and some local cars as well. It was a fun event and I'll be going back tomorrow to try again!
