Same method I use as well...the brilliant glaze knocks everything down to an even surface for the VRT to go down easier. One thing I add is that, when needed, I start with Adam's Fine Machine Polish by hand (but I don't think the sell it anymore) and it does wonders for swirl marks on the vinyl.
Only issue I have is the '45' that is cut into my stripes. A total pain to work around.
