The 1LE struts will give a stiffer ride though,
If you upgrade to the 2013 and new struts (whether SS replacements or 1LE) you will do something about the end links using different diameter studs.
If you do decide to lower the car, lowering it with springs can be more stiff than some like, so coilovers might be a good option at that point. They cost a bit more, but the installation isn't much harder, and you gain adjustability.
Installing Lowering springs doesn't require a strut compressor, but if you are putting stock springs back on it might be a good idea to have one handy, as they have a taller free height and can be difficult to get pushed down enough to start the nut for the strut mounts.
