Oil life and oil level are two different things. The oil life monitor simply takes a lot of inputs, runs them through an algorithm, and estimates the "life" left in the oil you have. You have to use the good old dipstick if you want to know how
much oil you have left. Check the level every other trip to the gas station and you will know if you need to add some before it gets dangerously low.
